I saw the pattern for this bag in an old magazine I had.  If I remember correctly I think this was the reason I bought the magazine in the first place.  That was approximately a year or more ago now.  Welp, I finally got around to trying it.  It was harder than it looked.  Hexies are not super easy to sew.  The above is what I ended up with.

I made it out of all scrap fabrics  and decided that if it didn’t turn out okay then it was just pieces I had laying there not being used anyway.  I am not 100% happy and wouldn’t dare give it to someone as a gift but it’s okay for me.

The truth is,  I made a boo boo on the lining when I measured and cut.  It was smaller than the outside.  This led me to making a choice between trying to find another piece of fabric big enough in my scrap pile or gathering the outside edge and making it work.  I am a realist.  I kept on stitching.  I am not sure if others are like this or not but I  HATE starting over and double HATE ripping stitches out.  If I am making something for someone else I would but for just me or just for fun.  NO WAY…

Other than that error, I like the hexies and would love to some day make a whole quilt with hexies.  They are fun and if you EPP (english paper piece) it can be a very relaxing way to spend an evening in front of the tube.  I love sitting in my recliner with my thread, needle and a nice hand sewing project. oh.. and my cup of coffee of course!

I free motioned the whole bag.  Inside and Out.  It gives it a little more sturdiness and I can’t decide if it takes away from the “hexie” look but it’s too late now if it does.  I will NOT be doing any ripping!  So, go grab your needle and thread and your fave stitchin spot and create something beautiful!

This is where I’m heading!

Until next time~
